Sex Ed

I'm doing research for my gender and sexuality project and found an interesting sex ed video from the 50s. Thought I'd share.

Interesting. "Mom, guess what!" Of course, they portray Molly as being concerned with dresses, hats, and lipstick. And they can talk about sex only after they make dinner. To say nothing of the father & mother representing the typical, nuclear family (certainly a minority situation in my neighborhood).
And why is there always a mirror scene in these videos? In film class, we've discussed how a lot of directors use that trope to show duplicity in the characters. It's a visual metaphor of conflict! Well, "You know I've got the curse." Golly, how awful to be so inflicted!
